Prior to 1901, Australia consisted of six different British colonies. copyright use was not widespread, and if needed British or other national passports have been utilized. In the nineteenth century, paroled convicts were being issued a form of inner copyright termed "ticket of leave", which enabled them to move freely involving the colonies.[10]
